Salami Sandwich

This is an excellent Italian salami sandwich recipe. It combines banana peppers, black olives, salami, provolone and tomatoes with a wonderful sauce to put down over it.

Ingredients -

2 Hoagie Rolls
1 Cup Lettuce, shredded
3 Banana Peppers, Sliced
2 Tablespoons Black Olives, Chopped
1 Small Onion, Sliced
8 Slices Hard Salami
4 Slices Provolone Cheese
1 Small Tomato, Thinly Sliced
3 Tablespoons Olive or Vegetable Oil
1 Tablespoon Red Wine Vinegar
½ Teaspoon Dried Oregano
Fresh Table Salt
Fresh Ground Black Pepper

 
Preparation:

1. Take the hoagie rolls and slice them in half length wise.

2. Spread the mayonnaise on both sides of the hoagie.

3. Layer the lettuce, sliced banana peppers, chopped olives, onion slices, hard salami, provolone and the tomato.

4. Combine the oil, vinegar, oregano, salt and fresh cracked pepper in a small mixing bowl.

5. Whisk the mixture well and drizzle it over the top layer of the sandwich.

6. Top with the other half of the hoagie.

You can find pre-shredded lettuce and pre-cut banana peppers in your local grocery store. This will help cut down on time to prepare the meal.

If you just want to have a nice vinegrette around, then double or triple the ingredients in this recipe (oil, vinegar, oregano, salt and pepper and store it in an airtight container in the fridge.  You can use it for other sandwiches or it’s great just down over some fresh spinach.
